LHS class ring from 1970 found in old locker

In any given year, the Lowell Area School District does some general maintenance of each school, from time to time, to create a new space for a school program. Last year, a small project like this occurred to help one of our new Lowell athletic programs. “There was a crew of LAS maintenance staff, who were removing a bank of lockers in the girls’ locker room, to make some more space for our girls’ wrestling team,” said Nate Fowler, Lowell Area Schools superintendent. “When they pulled the lockers out, they found the ring in between the lockers. We aren't sure who would have been using the locker at the time. Cherry Creek was built as a middle school when it opened in 1973.”
The class ring has a year of 1970 around the center stone, with an L on one side and H on the other side.
Cody Buchanan, Anthony Boler, and Dereck Kessler, all LAS maintenance employees, were part of the project and were the ones who found the ring. “We found lots of miscellaneous jewelry here and there with no markings on them; of course, until we found this one, and I said this one is a class ring,” said Buchanan. “At the time, I said, ‘Well let’s trace it down and see who we have to get it to.’ Honestly, I forgot about it and passed it along.”
Buchanan gave the ring to the LAS central office, and the central office reached out to the Lowell Ledger, in hopes that the ring could be reunited to its owner. “We shared the story with the Lowell Ledger because it would be cool to reunite the ring with its owner,” said Fowler. “We thought that it might hold some sentimental value for someone.”
Buchanan agreed. “Let’s hope we can get it to the right owner. That would be pretty great.”
If anyone has any information about who might own the ring, please reach out to the Lowell Area Schools District’s central office at 616-987-2500.
