Murray Lake Third Graders Visit the Museum

An elementary school tradition, Murray Lake third graders enjoy some of the exhibits at the Lowell Area Historical Museum

A Murray Lake Elementary third grade class was at the Lowell Area Historical Museum attending the Museum Immersion Program last Thursday. This program introduces students to local history through a variety of activities.

Students learn how museums care for artifacts, discover the lives of local residents, create maps that explore how Lowell developed, experience the fur trade era and more. They get to learn about an artifact they choose from the collection and create their own exhibit labels.

All Lowell Area Schools third grade classes will attend this program over the next three months. The program is supported by grants from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council and the Literacy Legacy Fund of Michigan.
