ROBERT ALLEN WIELINGA
He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Wielinga; mother, Meryl Wielinga; and his grandson, Shane Andrew Wielinga. Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy Wielinga; his children, Laurie (Randy) McElwain, Jackie Wielinga, Andy Wielinga, Kelly O'Brien, Maureen (Craig) Wolbers; sister, Mary Jo (Ward) Winer; grandchildren, Grant, Cassie, Jamie, Tim, and Alley; many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Bob proudly served as a member of the Army National Guard. He later dedicated many years to Canteen Vending Services before retiring to his lake home in Irons, MI. He served as Elk Township Supervisor for several years. His commitment to community service continued as a proud Deputy of the Lake County Sheriff Reserve volunteering countless hours for many years. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Bob was known for his incredible sense of humor and mischievous wit, which brought immense joy and laughter to everyone who knew him. He was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Lions and Michigan State, and he was also the proud "owner" and sponsor of his namesake softball team "Stinky's Boys". He loved the game of softball, but most of all he loved the special camaraderie he shared with the team members and their families.
Bob is beloved by his family and friends, and he will be deeply missed. The family will greet friends and relatives from 11am-1pm on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N Hudson, Lowell, MI 49331, with funeral services starting at 1pm. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Lowell, Michigan. Memorial contributions in Bob’s honor can be directed to the AMVETS Post 1988, 1959 W 24th St, Baldwin, MI 49304.
