BURDETTE
Laura Lee Burdette passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at the home of her daughter, Laurie Bell, in Westbrook, Connecticut, surrounded by her family.
A social butterfly and the life of every gathering, Laura was known for her vibrant spirit, spunky personality, and ability to turn any moment into a celebration. Whether she was hosting spontaneous gatherings on the patio or enhancing her gardens with beauty, she possessed a remarkable talent for making others feel welcome. Born to Sylvan and Betty Rhoades, Laura grew up with a deep appreciation for family, a value she carried throughout her life.
She worked a long career in distributor relations at Amway Corporation. In retirement, she split her time between her cottage on Tacoma Lake in Stanton, Michigan, and Bradenton, Florida, where she and her late husband, David, made wonderful memories together. Laura loved pontoon rides on the lake, searching for sand dollars during walks on the beach, and listening to music that touched her heart. Her home was filled with warmth and laughter, and her freezer was famously stocked with crab legs and steak, ready to turn any day into a special occasion. A true romantic, she had a fondness for all things pretty. Her greatest hobby was making time for family and friends. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvan and Betty Rhoades; her husband, David Burdette; her brother, Sylvan Rhoades; her sister, Marilyn Gregory; and her nephew, Aaron Rhoades.
She is survived by her children, Laurie (Jeff) Bell and Trent (Anna) Sible; her grandchildren, Marlee (John Sonski), Liam Bell, Elizabeth Sible, and Sophia Sible; her twin sister, Linda (Dave Baie); her brother, Vince (Renee) Rhoades; her stepchildren, Duke (Diane) Burdette and Cole (Diane) Burdette; and many beloved nieces, nephews and step grandchildren. Laura’s family and countless friends will deeply miss her radiant presence, the joy she brought to their lives, and her knack for making every gathering unforgettable. In honor of Laura’s memory, enjoy a delicious meal, plant something beautiful, and savor a beautiful melody - just as she always did. There will be a memorial service for Laura at the United Methodist Church in Clinton, CT. The family will also host a memorial service in Greenville, Michigan, with the date to be announced later.
