He liked camping and spent time each year attending the annual Operating Engineers Local 324 celebration. Jerry and his wife Sharron built a home together, establishing a foundation of love and cherished memories that continues to resonate with all who were welcomed there.
Gerald R. (“Jerry”) Manszewski passed away peacefully at his home in Lowell, Michigan, on April 26, 2024. Born in 1940 in Bay City, Michigan, Jerry was a man of integrity and commitment, both in his professional life and personal endeavors. Jerry served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 to 1961. Following his military service, he began a rewarding career as a union operator of heavy equipment, where he was highly respected until his retirement in 1995. Throughout his retirement, Jerry savored the simple pleasures of life, appreciating quiet moments in the comfort of the home he loved so much. He also enjoyed being with his family at the annual family reunion each year.

Jerry could fix anything that needed repair and took great joy in spending time on his tractor. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Edith Manszewski, and his beloved wife, Sharron. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy (Roger) Giffins and Renee (David) Williams, as well as Sharron’s children, Todd Palazolo, Kelly (Joseph) Hawley, Heather Shipaila, and Melissa (Bart) Olin. Jerry also leaves behind his siblings: Ed Manszewski, Rosemary Orlang, Bill Manszewski (Beverly), Janet Maser, Helen Cain, and Jim (Connie) Manszewski; grandchildren, Nicole, Garrett, Devin, and Morgan along with great-grandchildren, Caterina and Nicco. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 12:30 pm at Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N Hudson, Lowell, MI 49331, with visitation one-hour prior. Burial will follow at South Boston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard, honoring Jerry’s dedication to his fellow veterans.
