Dale enjoyed playing senior softball until the age of 82, playing on several teams his whole life. He also enjoyed hunting, was on the National Guard Rifle Team serving 10 years, and Work and Witness trips to Chili, Togo South Africa, and Guatemala through church.

Dale L. Johnson, age 93, of Alto, MI passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024. He was preceded in death by his sister, Verda Hoffman; and parents, Leonard and Elsie Johnson. Dale is survived by his wife of 70 years, Charlotte M. Johnson; children, Larry (Susan) of Florida, Mark (Peggy) of Alto, Wendie (Michael) McLouth of Kentwood; 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild due soon; brother-in-law, Robert (Judy) Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. Dale graduated from Lowell High School in 1949 along with Michigan State Agricultural College (MSU) in 1952. He joined the United States Army and served from 1956-1957 in Germany. Dale went on to work in farming and then for Farm Bureau Insurance, winning many trips and awards before retiring after 40 years of service.

He belonged to the Alto Lions Club, coached Little League, and worked with the boy scouts. Dale enjoyed playing senior softball until the age of 82, playing on several teams his whole life. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Legacies for their love and care during Dale’s bout with dementia. Special thanks to Tammy from Gentiva Hospice for her compassion and care and all her helpers from hospice. We love them all.

Visitation took place Sunday, September 29, 2024, from 4-7pm at Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, MI 49331. Funeral services were held 12:00 pm, Monday, September 30, 2024, at Ada Bible Church Cascade Campus, 8899 Cascade Rd SE, Ada, MI 49301 with visitation one-hour prior. Rev. James Geldhof and Rev.
