In the end, it wasn’t close. Lowell not only held off Sparta, they cruised past the Spartans by 25 strokes, to secure the inaugural River Cities Alliance conference championship. It ends a long drought of conference titles, dating back to the early 1990’s, the 1992-1993 season.

Elyse Veldman (80), Andrea Plantz (84), Elle Sluss (85), and Hannah Flickinger (91) scored for Lowell in the conference tournament held at The Links at Bowen Lake. Sparta, Greenville, and Coopersville finished 2nd-4th, while Allendale, Cedar Springs, and Kenowa Hills were well off the pace of the top four.

Veldman carded 13 pars in her 2nd place overall finish, while Sluss and Flickinger also finished top ten.

Lowell was at regionals this week, on Tuesday out at Cedar Chase. The Red Arrows placed 2nd to advance to the state tournament to be held October 18th and 19th at the Meadows.
