Dual Score - 52-14 Lowell (F).
3:40pm - The Grand March has concluded and we are about ready to begin wrestling. Lowell will be big favorites today against the 7-seed Fowlerville Gladiators.
3:42pm - Carson Blum will lead off the Red Arrows who have won the coin flip and that got an excited reaction from the three team captains.
3:45 - Blum pins and we’re feeling it early. Jarrett Smith up next.
3:55 - Major decision for Smith. 18-4, he definitely wanted to get to a technical fall there as Lowell really wants to pour it on in these early weights. Up next Cole Cichocki.
4:04 - Cole with a late takedown to get the major decision, a nice bonus point for Lowell. 14-0.
4:09 - Exactly what Lowell wanted as Carter Cichocki and Jackson Blum pin. Lowell racking up points. 26-0.
4:15 - Dawson techs. A few near pins. Trevor Boone up. Easy to say it now, but Fowlerville didn’t want to start at 113. Just running the gauntlet there.
4:23 - A technical fall by Boone puts Lowell on the precipice. Any win by Harvey would secure the dual.
4:28 - It’s Seth Harvey who secures it with a tech! Lowell mathematically can’t be caught. They’ll be state champions again.
4:41 - Segorski technical fall. Gabe Olin in at 175. 46-0 Red Arrows lead heading into some of Fowlerville’s tougher weights. Expect them to get some wins.
4:46 - Fowlerville on the board with a major, it’s 46-4 Red Arrows with four weight classes to go. Casey Engle will wrestle next for Lowell.
4:50 - Engle leads 6-1 after the first period over No. 5 Packer of Fowlerville.
4:53 - Engle leads 11-3 now. This dual isn’t particularly close, but around us there isn’t much of that either. Dundee won 72-0. Detroit Catholic Central is up 15. Hudson is only up 10 though over in division four.
4:56 - Lowell takes the 49-4 lead after an Engle decision. Up next, a surprise, it’s Juan Acosta whose been a bit under the weather. When you’re a senior with a chance to wrestle your last team state match, well you might as well.
5:01 - Always going to be a tough match for Acosta, No. 4 Layne O’Neill leads 8-0 heading into the third period as it’s been confirmed all four divisions will have repeat champions. DCC, Lowell, Dundee, and Hudson will all win. It is a common complaint when there are four dominant programs. People want to see different winners, excitement. If we weren’t rooting for Lowell, we’d feel the same.
5:04 - Acosta falls 9-0, this is probably where Fowlerville wanted to start, where they were a bit stronger and could build momentum. Lowell’s start was a pretty quick deflator for the Gladiators. The Gladiator fans though are in good spirits as they should be. 7-seed to state runner-up is pretty impressive. No. 12 Liam O’Neill up against Braylen Meeuwsen. Our second to last dual.
5:08 - Meeuwsen loses by fall. McKay our last wrestler.
5:17 - McKay wins by decision. Final, 52-14 Lowell.
Division 2 Semifinal
#1 Lowell vs. #4 Three Rivers
Dual Score - 55-19 Lowell (F).
Coverage starts at 12:00pm on 2/22/2025. Listen in at lowellradio.org
11:41 AM - We’re back in Kalamazoo! My college town, so excited to be back. Lowell will take on Three Rivers in the semifinals starting in about 20 minutes.
12:00pm - We will start at 165 pounds for this semifinal. Owen Segorski up for Lowell. A rematch with No. 9 Braylon Faile who he teched at regionals.
12:02 - Segorski with the pin! 6-0 Lowell. Gabe Olin up for Lowell at 175.
12:05 - Olin pinned. 6-6. Casey Engle up looking for six of his own.
12:11 - 15-0 technical fall for Engle. Lowell back up 11-6. Onto 215, Braylen Meeuwsen up for Lowell. Thought we might see Segorski bumping up to 175, but the starting weight didn’t make that a great option.
12:22 - Meeuwsen falls by major decision. Almost able to get a turn late. Three Rivers has to be pleased with their start. 11-10 Lowell still leads. Henry Oesch in at heavyweight, Juan Acosta out sick this weekend.
12:25 - Three Rivers takes the lead with a fall, Lowell into their stronger weights in this dual and should expect to pick up a lot of points.
12:29 - John Carter McKay with an 8-0 lead early in his dual. The switch at heavyweight was unexpected, Three Rivers needed some breaks like that today.
12:32 - McKay locks up the pin to restore the Lowell lead and maybe calm some Lowell fans nerves. Up next is Carson Blum, meaning our bumping is coming. So you’ll see Jarrett Smith at 120 most likely.
12:35 - Blum pins and Lowell very much in control with Jarrett Smith up now. 23-16 Red Arrows.
12:38 - Smith hunting for team points. He’s up 16-3 over Brody Morrill hoping for a pin. He does get the tech fall. Lowell with 17 of 18 possible points down low/
12:41 - Expected a void to Jackson Blum, it came to Braddock King. 34-16.
12:42 - Carter Cichocki out at 132, so we won’t see Cole this dual. Lowell up 18 and Cichocki can all but put it out of reach for Three Rivers here.
12:47 - Cichocki pins. So Three Rivers needs four straight falls to tie at this point. Jackson Blum can officially clinch for Lowell.
12:52 - This dual is clinched! Blum with the tech fall. Lowell will be in the finals. 45-16.
12:55 - Looks like Fowlerville is in control of New Boston Huron in the other semifinal. There’s some history between Lowell and the Gladiators. We’ll get into that if it happens. Dawson in control at 144, up 16-2.
12:58 - Dawson with the tech. Trevor Boone up. Jack Lamoreaux on deck. Outside of the curveball at heavyweight this dual has gone according to script.
1:03 - Boone with the tech. Last match of the dual, it is Lamoreaux. 55-16. Both teams have done better with bonus points than expected. Our pre-match prediction was 49-9 in the paper this past week.
1:06 - Huge move by Lamoreaux nearly gets the pin. Been a pretty clean dual. Not a lot of injury time, well officiated.
1:12 - Lamoreaux loses by decision. 55-19 the final for Lowell.

QUARTERFINAL ARTICLE
#1 Lowell vs. #8 Warren Woods Tower
Dual Score
50-20 Lowell (F).
6:45pm - Welcome to tonight’s coverage. Dual will start at 157. Warren Woods Tower shows first, Lowell sends out junior Colten Barney who we just had on the Ledger Podcast!
6:46 - Colten Barney pins to give Lowell a 6-0 lead in a matchup the Red Arrows will be heavily favored. Up next is Lowell defending state champion Owen Segorski at 165.
6:50 - Segorski with a quick technical fall and Lowell up to an 11-0 lead. Dylan Boone will take the match next for his team state debut against Tower’s Aidan Ede. To my left Freeland and Fowlerville already in an exciting dual. Greenville is farthest away from us against Three Rivers.
6:53 - Back and forth match so far as the Lowell freshman up against a senior. Tower has three ranked wrestlers so will provide a ranking when applicable. All rankings from Michigan Grappler. 3-2 Boone trails halfway through the match.
6:56 - Boone still trails by one going into the third period, 3-2. Fowlerville with a 12-0 lead over two-seeded Freeland right now.
6:58 - Takedown from Boone gives him the lead after a caution point was awarded to Tower. Remember takedowns are worth three now! 5-4 lead.
6:59 - Late reversal gets Tower on the board with a decision. 11-3 Lowell with No. 1 ranked Casey Engle up. He’s going to get Tower’s No. 2 ranked Amari Richardson, so big one here!
7:06 - Great time to swing to the other side of the mat for some pictures, Engle off to a 9-0 lead after two periods in this one.
7:09 - Engle with a 12-0 decision over No. 2 Richardson. Not going to get many matches like that in a quarterfinal! Three Rivers up 16-0 over Greenville. Lowell gets the winner of that match tomorrow morning if they win. Max Bigard against Tower’s Estrada. It means they’re bumping their No. 10 215 pounder to face either Juan Acosta or Braylen Meeuwsen next match.
7:13 - Bigard with the pin. Braylen Meeuwsen up for Lowell at heavyweight. Lowellradio.org will be here tomorrow if we advance!
7:22 - Back and forth match, but Tower with a late escape gets the decision at heavy. Warren Woods Tower voids (forfeits) to Veronica Tapia at 106. Mason Saylor up at 113, also was just on the podcast.
7:24 - Other scores so far it is Fowlerville 26, Freeland 5. New Boston Huron 23, Linden 6. Three Rivers 22, Greenville 5. Here it’s 33-6 after Saylor pins. Expect a photo album to be up late tonight.
7:26 - Tower voids to Carson Blum. Up next is freshman Lyle O’Boyle. for the Red Arrows.
7:35 - Late back points gives Tower another close decision. Great postseason experience fo a few freshman already tonight. What we’re seeing is what we expected. Lowell wanted to get out to a lead early and give plenty of kids an opportunity to wrestle in a dual they were favored in.
7:37 - Milunovich gets the pin over Gage Lyons. 39-15 Lowell. Up next is Cody Foss up against #2 Dominic Gumtow. Michigan Grappler’s quarterfinal previews only show rankings for state qualifiers, so some of the matchups are a little deciving because Foss is definitely one of the top 16 wrestlers in the state. The dual was mathematically clinched at 39-6 so Lowell is advancing.
7:42 - So interesting wrestling fact, we’re seeing a situation where Lowell has to show their wrestlers first. It is something called the flip. It’s literally a coin flip at the beginning that decides when a team has to show first. So in certain matches, it can prove to be an important advantage and for Tower here they are able to matchup wrestlers a little better. Lowell is showing a lot of younger wrestlers. No Jackson Blum, Jarrett Smith, Cole Cichocki, Carter Cichocki.
7:45 - No. 2 Gumtow techs Foss, a tech or technical fall in a win by 15+. 39-20. Up next is Logan Dawson. No. 7 Fowlerville is absolutely taking it to No. 2 Freeland. Kind of knew the seeding was a little weird with Three Rivers at No. 4, but this is surprising. It’s 40-8 over there. On Greenville watch, they’re down 25-10 to Three Rivers.
7:51 - Dawson gets the pin. Lowell up 45-20 and Trevor Boone up at 150 in the last match of the dual
8:04 - Boone with the technical fall to close out the dual. Lowell 50, WWT 20 (F). We’ll have an article and photos up late this evening!
