ELZINGA

John H. Elzinga, age 74 of Lowell, passed away October 23, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Virginia Elzinga; first wife, Bonnie; brother, Bob Elzinga. John is survived by his current wife, Ping Elzinga; daughter, Becky (Peyton Malacinski) Elzinga; sons, C.J (Teresa) Hauck, Nick (Tiffani) Hauck; grandchildren, Ryleigh Wilder, Caleb Hauck, Blake Hauck, Colt Hauck, Evelyn Hauck; brother-in-law, Duane (LeAnne) Baker; sisters-in-law, Norene (Frank) Martin, Kellie (Brian) Shoup, Patty Elzinga; and many nieces and nephews.

John was a graduate of Lowell High School, class of ’68. He went on to work for the state of Michigan for over 30 years as a tax collector. John enjoyed watching sports and rooting for the Tigers, Lions, and MSU Spartans. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, bird watching, golfing, or hunting mushrooms; he always kept busy. John wintered in Bradington, FL.

Above all, he cherished time spent with those he loved. Family greeted friends and relatives from 11 am - 12 pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell, MI 49331. Interment Oakwood Cemetery, Lowell, Michigan. A Celebration of Life followed at the Moose Lodge, 320 E Main Street Lowell, MI  49331.
