JONES

David Allen Jones, 72, of Lowell, MI, passed away peacefully at 2:30 PM on Monday, October 28th, in his home of 43 years, having been surrounded by family while in hospice care.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela Jones, and his children: son Ryder Jones, daughter-in-law Jessica Jones, daughter Marina Vanderwindt, and son-in-law Phillip Vanderwindt. David was a proud grandfather to four granddaughters and three grandsons. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill and Randy Jones, and sisters, Debbie Jones and Sharon Turnquist.

David was a 1970 graduate of Lowell High School and later attended Michigan Tech and Western Michigan University. Throughout the 70s and 80s, he was a career musician, performing in bands such as Stillwater and Alive and Well, before forming D’Avenue with his wife, Pam. David later became a mail carrier for the USPS at the Jenison office, a position he held until 2022. All the while he maintained his passion for music, performing and writing prolifically. In 2022 part of his catalog of original music was placed with Fervor records for use in movies and television.

A lifelong member of Lowell First United Methodist Church, David was deeply engaged in his community, playing a key role in reviving concerts at the historic Lowell Showboat. When he wasn’t engaged with music he enjoyed walking, watching Lions football, working out, and spending time outdoors with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a lifelong Lowell resident, a staple of the town, well known for his kindness, humility, and talent with which he brought joy to so many through the years.

A visitation was held on Friday, November 1, 2024, followed by a service at Lowell First United Methodist Church, 621 E Main St., Lowell, MI 49331, with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made for a new bench dedicated in his honor at Lowell Township Park, where he loved to walk.
